Key Qualifications:
- Current Interpreter License in American Sign Language (ASL) required; Spanish interpreting abilities preferred
- Experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in schools or educational settings highly valued
- Bilingual abilities in ASL and Spanish are a significant asset; knowledge of MSL is a plus
- Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in student interactions
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to collaborate effectively with teachers and school staff
- Commitment to working onsite and being present for the full length of each school day
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken English into ASL and, when needed, Spanish, for a designated middle school student in real-time classroom and school activities
- Support student access to academic content, school events, and peer interactions
- Foster an inclusive environment, acting as an essential link between students, teachers, and educational personnel
- Adhere to established confidentiality and ethical standards for educational interpreters
- Contribute to the student's success by ensuring they fully understand and are engaged in all school-related activities
