Exciting opportunity available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a middle school student in an educational environment. This contract position offers a full-time schedule, beginning as soon as possible and running through late May. You’ll work onsite, collaborating directly with educators and staff to ensure the student has seamless access to instruction, activities, and daily communication.
Your role will be crucial in empowering a student to participate fully in classroom and schoolwide experiences. Candidates with bilingual abilities in ASL and Spanish are highly encouraged to apply. Experience working 1:1 with students or within a school setting will be especially valuable.
Key Qualifications:
- Current State Interpreter License for ASL (Spanish or MSL skills considered a strong asset)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within schools or with children/adolescents
- Bilingual (ASL and Spanish) is preferred
- Ability to maintain professionalism in a busy classroom environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable availability for a consistent full-time schedule, onsite
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 interpreting services for a middle school student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between student, teachers, peers, and staff in various classroom and educational settings
- Adapt to curriculum changes, classroom modifications, and school events as needed
- Support the student’s understanding and participation in both academic and social activities
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for interpreters in educational settings
