Key Qualifications:
- Active Georgia Educator Certification for Sign Language Interpreters with a minimum EIPA score of 3.5
- OR, eligible SLI Paraeducators with near-qualifying EIPA scores planning to retake the exam (district open to hiring as SLI tech and transitioning to full interpreter)
- Comfortable working onsite and collaborating with educational teams
- Strong skills in American Sign Language and ability to interpret in classroom and school settings
- Readiness to complete daily service logs as part of documentation requirements
- Commitment to student confidentiality and professionalism
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, activities, and school communications for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Serve as a key liaison between students, teachers, and school staff to foster inclusive learning environments
- Adapt interpretation style to diverse student needs, grade levels, and district placements, as determined through interview and discussion
- Maintain accurate daily logs of interpreting services and contribute to planning meetings as required
- Exhibit flexibility in caseload assignment and willingness to support various age groups based on experience and preference
