Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter at a recognized school district in the Gainesville, GA area. From now through May 27th, 2027, you'll provide vital communication access for students, working both one-on-one and in a part-time floating capacity—primarily onsite at Alliance Academy with the flexibility to support elsewhere as needed.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid GA DOE Sign Language Interpreter License required (district cannot accept HR waivers)
- Experience in educational settings, with a strong preference for 1:1, classroom, or K-12 interpreting
- Proficiency in a variety of sign language modalities and the ability to adapt to students' specific communication needs
- Proven professionalism, reliability, and comfort adapting to different school environments and schedules
- Passion for fostering inclusive learning and empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, unbiased interpretation between spoken English and sign language for students and staff
- Provide 1:1 interpreting support for a designated student while also filling in on a floating schedule as needed
- Collaborate with educators and district staff to ensure communication access and educational equity
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with appropriate educational and ethical standards
- Support learning goals, classroom participation, and social engagement for students receiving interpreting services
