Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to an impactful educational environment, working closely with a 5th-grade student in a Life Skills classroom. This position is based onsite and offers a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week within the academic calendar, beginning in mid-August and extending through early June. You’ll play a vital role in fostering communication, inclusion, and learning, making a meaningful difference every school day.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification; current EIPA score of 3.5 or above is required
  • Previous experience working with children in educational or life skills settings preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers and support staff
  • Ability to tailor interpreting techniques to meet individual student needs
  • Professional conduct and reliability in adhering to schedule and ethical guidelines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 5th-grade student, ensuring full participation in classroom activities and social interactions
  • Collaborate with educational staff to ensure student needs are met according to Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Adapt communication methods to support comprehension and inclusion within the classroom environment
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information and sensitive classroom details
  • Attend team meetings, trainings, and contribute to student support planning as needed
