Join Our Team as a Sign Language Interpreter in Green Bay, Wisconsin! We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to support students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school-based setting. Responsibilities
Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation services for students throughout the school day
Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, school activities, and educational meetings
Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
Support students' academic, social, and emotional growth within the educational setting
Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to meet student needs
Assist with implementing accommodations outlined in IEPs and 504 Plans
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics
Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings, and school-based professional development activities
Maintain accurate documentation of services provided
Promote an inclusive and accessible learning environment for all students
Qualifications
Required
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
Educational Interpreter certification, licensure, or credentials required by the state of Wisconsin
Experience interpreting for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively in educational settings
Commitment to student success and accessibility services
Preferred
Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score meeting state recommendations
RID Certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC)
Previous experience working in a K-12 school environment
Knowledge of special education services, IEPs, and classroom accommodations
Experience supporting students with diverse communication and learning needs
Familiarity with educational technology and classroom support strategies
