Desired Qualifications:
- Valid state Interpreter License in American Sign Language (ASL); additional Spanish fluency highly preferred
- Bilingual candidates, especially those with Spanish skills, are encouraged to apply
- MSL (manual sign language) proficiency is a plus
- Previous school-based or child/youth interpreting experience is advantageous
- Ability to work onsite full-time, present 37.5 hours per week during school hours
- Strong commitment to professionalism and confidentiality, especially in 1:1 student settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a 1:1 interpreter for a middle school student during the school day
- Interpret classroom instruction, social interactions, school events, and other educational activities
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, staff, and peers
- Support the student’s educational and social-emotional development using culturally competent and linguistic best practices
