Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with interpreting experience in educational settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret and transliterate spoken English to ASL and vice versa
- Sensitivity to student confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Experience working with middle school-aged students preferred
- Appropriate certification or licensure as required by state or district standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for students and staff during classroom instruction, activities, and meetings as needed
- Foster an inclusive learning environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate closely with teachers and related staff to support students’ individual educational plans
- Maintain accurate records and notes on student interactions and progress
- Assist with translating assignments, announcements, and other classroom materials
- Uphold and model cultural awareness and advocacy for students
Schedule and Contract Details:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:50 p.m.
- Assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the current school year
