Key Qualifications:
- Certification or proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required
- Experience working in educational settings preferred, but all levels of experience (0-3+ years) are welcome
- Skilled in interpreting for students with hearing impairments and/or limited to no verbal communication
- Able to adapt to assist in multiple classroom environments, including specialized programs such as SAILS and STEPs
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with educational staff
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and supporting student dignity
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation services for students during classroom instruction and school activities
- Assist in evaluations to accurately support the individual needs of students who rely on sign language communication
- Collaborate with teachers, special education professionals, and program coordinators to optimize the learning environment
- Support broader program expansion efforts, enabling access for more students needing interpreting services
- Maintain accurate records of services provided, progress reports, and any necessary communication logs
