Desired qualifications and experience:
- Proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), with the skill to facilitate communication in educational settings
- Previous experience in schools or with children (0-3, 4-6, or 7+ years)
- Knowledge and sensitivity to the needs of students in the SAILS and STEPs programs
- Ability to participate in student evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Flexibility to work on-site or in a hybrid setting, with a minimum in-person commitment of four days per week
- Comfort adapting your interpreting style to support both hearing-impaired students and non-verbal communicators
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
Key responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation during classes, evaluations, and other school activities
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Adapt interpreting techniques for individual student needs within specialized programs
