Desired Qualifications:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience supporting students in educational settings, ideally within schools
- Comfortable working with a range of age groups, including Pre-School, Elementary, Middle, and High School
- Skilled in 1:1 interpretation, facilitating communication between students, instructors, and peers
- Ability to adjust interpreting approach based on individual student needs and grade level
- Strong collaborative and communication skills with staff and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa in classrooms, school events, and other academic settings
- Provide 1:1 support for students as assigned
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards according to certification
- Assist classroom teachers and staff in ensuring accessibility for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Support the academic and social development of assigned students through consistent communication access
