Skills & Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school or educational environment
- Certification as an interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials) is highly valued
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and sensitivity to students’ diverse communication needs
- Ability to adapt interpreting style to a high school academic environment, including classroom lectures, labs, extracurriculars, and meetings
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate ASL interpretation for high school students in classroom, one-on-one, and group settings
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff to ensure equal access to the educational experience
- Support students during various school activities, including assemblies, field trips, and special programs
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards at all times
- Collaborate with teachers, case managers, and support staff to meet students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Accurately document services as required by district policies
