Qualifications:
- Valid license to practice as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Experience working 1:1 with pediatric populations, ideally in a school or educational environment
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and current best practices for educational interpreting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a pediatric student during classroom instruction, activities, and school functions
- Serve as a communication liaison between the student, teachers, and peers, ensuring access to all educational content and discussions
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interpreting services as needed
- Support the student’s individual education goals and adapt interpreting strategies as appropriate
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of accommodations and supports for the student
