Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Experience interpreting in school settings, preferably with K-12 students
  • Ability to accurately convey spoken language into sign, and vice versa, in real-time classroom settings
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with students, educators, and families
  • Commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality
  • Relevant certification or state licensure, if required

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
  • Adapt communication style to meet the needs of individual students and classroom situations
  • Collaborate with educational teams to foster inclusive learning environments
  • Support students’ access to curriculum, social interactions, and school programs through clear, effective interpreting
  • Assist with documentation and communication as needed for IEP meetings or other educational planning sessions
