Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Experience interpreting in school settings, preferably with K-12 students
- Ability to accurately convey spoken language into sign, and vice versa, in real-time classroom settings
- Comfortable working collaboratively with students, educators, and families
- Commitment to professional ethics and confidentiality
- Relevant certification or state licensure, if required
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Adapt communication style to meet the needs of individual students and classroom situations
- Collaborate with educational teams to foster inclusive learning environments
- Support students’ access to curriculum, social interactions, and school programs through clear, effective interpreting
- Assist with documentation and communication as needed for IEP meetings or other educational planning sessions
