Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Hold relevant certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings is highly desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills and professional communication
- Commitment to confidentiality and student privacy
- Ability to collaborate closely with teachers, students, and school staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective ASL interpretation for students, staff, and parents in classrooms and campus events
- Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and support personnel
- Interpret lectures, discussions, meetings, and other instructional activities
- Adapt signing style to match students’ age, learning needs, and language skills
- Support the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process as required
- Maintain detailed, confidential documentation as needed
- Contribute to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
