Key Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong familiarity with educational interpreting practices.
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, NIC, or equivalent state/national credential).
- Prior experience interpreting in school settings or with children/adolescents is highly desirable.
- Ability to adapt to a variety of classroom and campus environments throughout the day.
- Dependable, flexible, and committed to confidentiality and student support.
Your Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students in classroom, small group, assemblies, and extracurricular settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to facilitate student participation and understanding.
- Travel to identified school sites as needed (Doty Elementary, Southwest High).
- Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and clear boundaries at all times.
- Support students’ access to curriculum, social interactions, and school events.
