Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Oneida, WI

Step into a dynamic educational environment supporting students by facilitating communication and enhancing learning experiences as a Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming school year. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity begins in late August and continues through early June, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week. You’ll have the chance to work closely with elementary and high school students, empowering them to succeed in various classroom settings.
Qualifications:
- Valid Wisconsin Educator Certification is required
- EIPA score of 3.3 or higher and completion of the EIPA Written Test strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting in educational settings
- Previous experience working in schools or with children/adolescents is highly desirable
- Ability to collaborate with educators and other professionals
- Reliable, professional, and adaptable to varied learning environments
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students and school staff
- Facilitate communication and promote inclusion within general and special education classrooms
- Serve as a language model and advocate for students with hearing impairments
- Interpret in a variety of academic and non-academic situations throughout the school day
- Travel between two school sites, supporting different age groups as caseloads require
- Work with 1-2 students at a time, providing services tailored to their individual needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
