Key Qualifications:
- Hold at least a 3.5 EIPA score (candidates with a 3.4 may be considered under specific conditions)
- Possess a Level 3 Interpreter certification in Virginia
- Proven experience interpreting in school settings, especially at the elementary level, is highly valued
- Proficient in American Sign Language and ethical interpreting practices
- Comfortable working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and other interpreters as part of a team
- Adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting student growth
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students in the classroom and school activities
- Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff
- Collaborate within a team to support multiple students and staff members as needs arise
- Support IEP goals and ensure accessibility accommodations are met
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and engaging school environment
