Qualifications:
- Holds current EIPA certification at 3.5 or higher, or VQAS Level III
- Demonstrated experience interpreting for children or within educational settings
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and effective communication strategies for kindergarten-age students
- Ability to adapt interpreting style to the dynamic needs of a young learner throughout the school day
- Dependability and professionalism, maintaining confidentiality and fostering positive rapport with students and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, one-to-one American Sign Language interpreting services for a kindergarten student during all school hours and activities
- Facilitate clear, accurate communication between student, peers, and staff
- Adapt interpreting techniques for age-appropriate learning and play settings
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school personnel to support the student’s individualized education plan
