Qualifications & Experience
- Valid ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher required
- Previous experience working as a 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter, ideally within an educational setting
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and accessibility needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work confidently with students, teachers, and educational teams
- Willingness to work on-site in a school environment
Responsibilities
- Provide direct 1:1 interpretation services for a student, facilitating clear and accurate communication throughout the school day
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities
- Assist in developing supportive strategies for student learning and inclusion
- Collaborate with staff and related service providers to address the student’s educational and social needs
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries while advocating for student access
