Key Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in American Sign Language (ASL), Interpreting, or a related field
- National certification strongly preferred (NIC from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or BEI credentials)
- Experience in educational settings or providing interpreter/translator services for the Deaf is highly valued
- Ability to complete district-specific credentialing and onboarding (details provided upon offer)
- Professionalism, adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time American Sign Language interpretation between students, staff, and classroom peers
- Assist in both academic and extracurricular activities across multiple school sites (specific assignments to be determined)
- Advocate for deaf and hard of hearing students’ access and participation
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and positive rapport
- Complete required documentation and timesheets promptly
