Remote Sign Language Interpreter in VA
A full-time opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter specializing in telehealth services within an educational setting. This contract position is based in Norfolk, VA, with an assignment usually limited to one school. The role starts August 24th and continues through June 4th, 2027, requiring approximately 35 hours per week.
Key responsibilities include providing high-quality sign language interpretation services to support students in a school environment, with a focus on telehealth sessions. Flexibility regarding the caseload is encouraged, as multiple openings exist and age groups served may vary. Collaboration with educational staff and adherence to district policies are essential to facilitate effective communication for students with hearing impairments.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, or Video Quality Assessment System (VQAS) level 3
- Candidates with EIPA 3.0 or VQAS 2 may be considered if committed to improving scores within three years
- Experience in telehealth interpretation services
- Ability to adapt to varied student age groups and communication needs
This position operates fully remote for the interview process, with prompt decision-making expected. A signed contract is required before the start date, and fingerprint clearance may be necessary according to district protocols.
