Remote Sign Language Interpreter in MI

A part-time position is available to provide American Sign Language interpretation services for a student requiring specialized support. The role is itinerant and involves supporting one student who benefits from direct communication access during school meetings and educational planning.
Location: Tawas City, MI
Contract Duration: Immediate start through June
Hours: Approximately 1 hour per week
Assignment: Supporting one student enrolled this school year needing Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) services in telehealth and in-person scenarios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend educational meetings, providing ASL interpretation to facilitate clear communication between the student, educators, and support staff.
- Collaborate with the existing school social worker to ensure the student’s communication needs are fully met.
- Maintain compliance with all confidentiality standards and professional ethics in educational settings.
- Participate in contract review discussions and any applicable board meetings as required.
- Document services and maintain communication logs according to school procedures and IEP system protocols.
Qualifications and Licenses:
- Licensed Sign Language Interpreter (LARA License - SLI) required.
- Proficient in American Sign Language, with experience in educational or telehealth interpreting environments.
- Understanding of special education protocols and IEP system usage preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet background check and fingerprinting requirements necessary for school assignments.
- Reliable transportation available for itinerant duties; mileage reimbursement policies to be confirmed.
