Qualifications:
- Active Education Interpreter License is a requirement.
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience as a school-based or educational sign language interpreter preferred.
- Familiarity with interpreting in classroom and one-on-one settings.
- Ability to adapt communication styles to meet K-12 students’ needs.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpreting services for students and staff in classrooms and school-related activities.
- Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to ensure accessible learning environments.
- Accurately interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa in real-time.
- Assist in developing effective communication strategies that support each student’s individual education plan (IEP).
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreter standards at all times.
- Support students’ social inclusion during instructional and non-instructional times.
This is a full-time contract, offering 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, starting as soon as possible and extending through May 2027.
