Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 3.0 or higher is required
- Experience working within school settings, ideally with elementary-aged students
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Comfortable working onsite in a classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken communication to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
- Ensure accurate and effective relaying of information between teachers, staff, and students
- Support students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in their educational experience
- Assist in creating an inclusive environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support professionals to address student needs
- Provide feedback and recommendations regarding communication strategies and access
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation as needed
