Make a meaningful impact every day as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter working with a dedicated 5th-grade student in a Life Skills classroom. This contract opportunity runs from August 19, 2026, through June 2, 2027, with consistent hours of 7:20 a.m. to 2:10 p.m., totaling 35 hours each week. You’ll have the chance to support student success in an inclusive educational environment while honing your interpreting expertise.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required)
- Proficient in American Sign Language and comfortable with educational settings
- Experience with 1:1 interpreting preferred, especially in life skills or special education classrooms
- Commitment to fostering a supportive and accessible learning atmosphere
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure student goals are met
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, accurate sign language interpretation for a 5th-grade student in all classroom activities, including instruction, group work, and social interaction
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the student’s communication needs and learning objectives
- Work closely with the classroom teacher and Life Skills team to facilitate understanding and participation
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all student-related communications and documentation
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive culture for all students and staff
