Empower a 5th grade student’s learning experience as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter in a supportive Life Skills environment. This contract opportunity, situated near York, PA, offers a meaningful way to make a difference in education through one-on-one student engagement. You’ll provide interpretation services throughout the academic year, working directly with a student who relies on your expertise for full access to the classroom and interactions.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within school settings
- A current EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (as required)
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and student advocacy
- Ability to collaborate effectively with special educators and school staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation between the student, teachers, and peers
- Foster communication and engagement to support the student’s participation in both academic and social aspects of school life
- Maintain professionalism and adaptability within the Life Skills classroom
- Prepare for daily lessons and activities to anticipate vocabulary and topics
- Participate in student support meetings as needed to ensure optimal service
This position provides a steady schedule of 35 hours each week, consistently running from 7:20 am to 2:10 pm during the school year (August 19, 2026 – June 2, 2027). The 1:1 nature of the assignment enables deep impact and professional growth.
