Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter required
- ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or above
- Experience providing 1:1 interpretation, preferably in pediatric or school environments
- Familiarity with best practices in educational interpreting and adapting communication as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, clear interpretation between students, staff, and peers in classroom and educational settings
- Support a pediatric student’s access to instruction and participation in all school activities
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to help adapt materials and facilitate learning
- Act as an advocate for the student’s communication needs and inclusion
- Maintain appropriate documentation and contribute to progress meetings as required
