Key Qualifications:
- ASLPI score of 4.1 or above is required
- Demonstrated expertise in American Sign Language and educational interpreting
- Previous experience in a school environment, preferably supporting individual students
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure clear and effective communication
- Strong commitment to student advocacy and confidentiality
- National or state interpreter certification preferred
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate and nuanced ASL interpretation for a student in classroom and school activities
- Serve as a communication bridge among students, educators, and peers
- Support the student’s understanding and participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques to suit various learning needs and environments
- Maintain professional ethical standards consistent with interpreting best practices
- Assist with documentation and progress monitoring as needed
