Key Qualifications:
- Current Intervener Certification (required)
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school setting
- Strong commitment to confidentiality and ethical interpreter standards
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and students of various backgrounds
- Adaptable and patient, with excellent communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver live, accurate ASL interpretation for students in elementary grades within regular classrooms and school functions
- Facilitate understanding between students and staff, ensuring equal participation in instructional and social activities
- Support students’ academic and social development, adapting interpretation style to meet individual needs
- Communicate with teachers and support staff regarding student progress and language access
