Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | California, Maryland

This full-time contract assignment begins August 10, 2026 and runs through June 17, 2027, offering you the chance to truly connect with your student and team. As a valued interpreter in this role, your work will bridge communication gaps, empower student participation, and contribute to a collaborative educational experience.
Qualifications:
- Current Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License is required
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and receptive/expressive interpreting skills
- Previous experience in educational settings or working 1:1 with students is highly desirable
- Ability to foster a trusting and inclusive rapport with students, staff, and families
- Flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting educational goals
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 interpreting services for a student, facilitating access to curriculum and classroom communication
- Collaborate closely with educational staff to adapt interpreting approaches to meet student needs
- Support the student’s participation in academic and extracurricular activities
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of interpreting work as needed
- Attend meetings or training related to the assignment when appropriate
