Qualifications:
- Valid Educator Certification required
- Minimum score of 75% on the EIPA written exam
- Either an EIPA performance score of 4.0 or higher, or an active National Interpreter Certification (NIC) from RID
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to confidentiality
- Previous experience interpreting in educational environments preferred
- Ability to adapt to dynamic caseloads and collaborate effectively
Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation between students, staff, and others in the school setting
- Convey instructional content, classroom discussions, and peer interactions for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
- Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and school personnel to address student needs
- Adhere to ethical standards, maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism
- Support student participation in a range of classroom, extracurricular, and school community activities
- Adjust interpreting approach to match various learning and communication styles
- Maintain accurate records related to services provided as needed
