Key Qualifications:
- National or state certification in Sign Language Interpretation (such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure)
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably within a school setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Comfortable providing 1:1 interpreting services in classroom and school environments
- Strong understanding of student confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to the full academic year
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a designated student throughout the school day
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, support staff, and administrators
- Modify signing style and vocabulary according to student needs and age level
- Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere to encourage student engagement and independence
