Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven interpreting skills in educational environments
- Valid certification or licensure required for sign language interpreting in Illinois schools
- Prior experience in a 1:1 or classroom setting strongly preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and support student’s unique learning needs
- Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative mindset essential
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the communication bridge between the student and school personnel during instructional hours
- Accurately interpret classroom discussions, activities, and school communications
- Support the student’s participation in both academic and extra-curricular activities
- Maintain documentation as needed and participate in team meetings or IEP reviews
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that empowers student growth and independence
