Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings highly preferred
- Valid interpreter certification (such as RID, EIPA, or state equivalent)
- Strong understanding of student confidentiality and educational protocols
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster trusting relationships with students and staff
- Adaptability to meet changing classroom needs and schedules
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for one high school student during classes, meetings, and relevant school activities
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, staff, and peers to support inclusive instruction
- Collaborate with educational teams to understand specific student needs and classroom goals
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions and interpretation assignments
- Support the student in fully accessing curriculum content and participating in school life
