Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (state or national level preferred)
- Experience providing interpretation in an educational environment, especially at the high school level
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with educators, staff, and students
- Respect for confidentiality and a welcoming, supportive attitude
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and ASL during classes, assemblies, and school activities
- Facilitate communication between the transferring student, peers, teachers, and other staff
- Assist the student in navigating classroom routines and academic content
- Adapt interpretation techniques to fit different classroom subjects and instructional styles
