Make a positive impact as a Sign Language Interpreter within a supportive educational setting, helping bridge communication between deaf/hard of hearing students and their school community. This is an onsite, contract role starting ASAP with consistent opportunities throughout the 2026-2027 school year. Full-time schedules averaging 30 hours per week (approximately 6 hours per day) provide stability while allowing some flexibility to indicate your preferred student grade level—elementary or intermediate.
Qualifications:
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf (RID), or a score of 4.0+ on EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessments
- Candidates with EIPA under 4.0 will be considered for an ASL Paraeducator role
- Proficiency in sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting
- Experience supporting students academically and socially within classroom settings
- Commitment to fostering inclusive communication and learning
- Ability to work comfortably onsite in a school environment
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate seamless communication between deaf/hard of hearing students, their peers, teachers, and school personnel
- Interpret classroom, resource, and school event interactions both to and from sign language
- Assist with academics, including reading, writing, math, and life/vocational skills
- Support student engagement during classroom, outdoor, or community activities
- Contribute to an inclusive classroom culture, accommodating communication needs
