Full-time opportunities are available for contract Sign Language Interpreters to support deaf and hard of hearing students in a vibrant academic setting. You will facilitate vital connections between students, peers, and educators, working onsite in both elementary and intermediate classrooms based on your preference. This role offers an immediate start, with steady needs anticipated through the upcoming school year.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Hold certification by the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf or possess a score of 4.0+ on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment.
- Candidates with EIPA scores below 4.0 are encouraged to apply and may be considered for an ASL Para role.
- Skilled in both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation.
- Experience collaborating with students in educational settings, assisting with academic subjects and life skills.
- Ability to effectively partner with teachers, students, and staff for seamless communication in diverse classroom and community environments.
- Reliable and dedicated to a consistent onsite schedule (approx. 30 hours per week, 6 hours daily).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language and sign language for students, teachers, and school staff.
- Provide support during academic instruction and activities in the classroom and community.
- Help students engage fully in reading, writing, math, vocational, and daily living lessons.
- Supervise and assist students during lunch, recreation, or offsite activities.
