Key Qualifications:
- Valid license appropriate for interpreting within educational settings
- Minimum ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1
- Experience working 1:1 with pediatric populations preferred
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and student advocacy
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both with students and educational teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time sign language interpretation for a student in all classroom activities, school functions, and related events
- Collaborate with educators and staff to ensure full academic access and participation for the student
- Support and adapt to individualized education program (IEP) requirements, contributing thoughtful feedback to planning meetings as needed
- Accurately relay spoken and signed messages, maintaining the integrity and nuance of communication
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment to empower student learning and independence
