Sign Language Interpreter in Eagle, NE
Make a meaningful impact supporting young learners as a Sign Language Interpreter in an elementary setting, working directly with students and educational staff to foster accessibility and inclusion. This full-time contract position is dedicated to serving an elementary caseload with onsite hours from 7:45am to 3:15pm, Monday through Friday. You'll play an integral role throughout the school year, with the assignment extending through May 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter, with EIPA score of 3.0 or higher required
- Strong command of classroom and educational interpreting (experience at the elementary level is a plus)
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with students, teachers, and school staff
- Familiarity with privacy standards and ethical considerations for interpreters in education settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation services for students using American Sign Language (ASL) in classrooms, activities, and meetings
- Ensure accurate and clear communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and others in the educational environment
- Support student achievement by facilitating comprehension of curriculum content, instructions, and peer interactions
- Collaborate with educators to modify materials, clarify lesson content, and assist with accessible learning strategies
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical guidelines for educational interpreting
