Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.0 or higher
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school environment preferred
- Understanding of elementary-age student needs and school culture
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Commitment to professionalism and confidentiality in all assignments
What You’ll Do:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students in elementary classrooms
- Partner with teachers and staff to ensure accessibility and engagement for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment and encourage student participation
- Assist with translating classroom instructions, discussions, small group activities, and school events as assigned
- Support students’ academic and social-emotional development through effective communication facilitation
- Maintain accurate records and communicate regularly with educational teams
