Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational interpreting standards
- Previous experience interpreting for pediatric populations, especially in Pre-K through Grade 5
- Ability to provide individualized (1:1) support adapted to various age groups, from early childhood to middle school
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (or active pursuit of certification, as required by state guidelines)
- Adaptability and enthusiasm for working across multiple educational settings
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation for students in classroom and school activities
- Support students’ understanding of instructional content, directions, and school communications
- Work closely with teams to ensure clear, effective communication channels for students
- Adapt interpreting methods to suit the learning styles and developmental stages of different age groups
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical standards relevant to educational interpreting
