Key Qualifications:
- Registered under the SLI and Transliteration Registration Act
- Certified and licensed to provide Sign Language Interpretation in an educational environment
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) with a strong command of communication strategies for DHH students
- Knowledge of the specific educational, social, and developmental needs of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Ability to accurately convey both oral and written information between students, teachers, and peers
- Strong collaboration skills with teachers, support staff, and families
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time ASL interpretation for classroom lessons, group activities, discussions, and events
- Facilitate effective communication between the student and classroom educators, staff, and peers
- Support the student in understanding and participating in general coursework and school routines
- Adapt communication methods to best fit the student's individual needs and education goals
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
