Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and skilled in interpreting for a variety of age groups
- Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI), or equivalent credentials
- Experience interpreting in an educational setting is highly desirable
- Ability to effectively translate spoken and signed communication in academic, social, and extracurricular contexts
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities to ensure equal access for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Work closely with teachers, staff, and families to gather details about individual student needs and support plans
- Contribute to IEP meetings, reviews, and communicate student progress to relevant stakeholders
- Support students during assemblies, field trips, special events, and other school functions as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions and documentation
