Put your sign language expertise to meaningful use in educational settings, supporting students' learning and communication needs. Multiple contract roles are available for both part-time and full-time Sign Language Interpreters. Positions are open at several sites, offering daily work hours ranging between 6.25 and 7.25, depending on the assignment location. Current opportunities are based in the Roseville and Auburn areas.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and relevant interpreting techniques
- Valid Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) or equivalent assessment certification, with a score of 4.0 or higher
- Previous experience providing sign language interpretation in an educational environment is highly preferred
- Ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication between students, staff, and teachers
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism in every interaction
- Flexibility to adapt to varying communication styles and classroom dynamics
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and events for deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Ensure seamless communication between students and their peers, teachers, and staff
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing lesson materials or collaborating with educators as needed
- Support student participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment
