Sign Language Interpreter in Greenwood, IN

The position is set for the 2026-2027 school year and offers a consistent full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Valid state or national certification for educational interpreting (such as EIPA or RID)
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter, preferably in a school or educational setting
- Ability to accurately interpret spoken language into sign, and vice versa, adapting to a student’s individual communication needs
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Understanding of confidentiality, ethics, and professionalism in a school environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a student during classroom instruction and school activities
- Facilitate clear and effective communication between the student, peers, and school personnel
- Support the student’s participation in academic and extracurricular activities
- Adapt interpretation techniques as required by classroom content and student needs
- Work collaboratively with educational staff to support the student's IEP goals and progress
- Maintain accurate records and participate in meetings regarding the student’s educational plan as needed
