Qualifications & Desired Experience
- Certification by the National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf or an EIPA score of 4.0 or higher
- Alternatively, ESSE-I/R or NAD/ACCI assessment accepted
- Candidates with EIPA scores under 4.0 are encouraged to apply; will be considered as ASL Para
- Proficiency in both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting
- Experience working with children in educational settings preferred
- Ability to assist students with academic subjects and daily living or vocational skills
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities
- Provide interpreting services to facilitate communication among deaf or hard of hearing students, their peers, teachers, and other school staff
- Interpret in both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign modes as needed
- Support students’ understanding and participation in classroom activities
- Work with academic content such as reading, writing, and math
- Monitor and assist students during classroom, outdoor, or community activities
- Adjust support strategies to individual student needs, offering assistance in both academic and daily living skills
- Serve as a collaborative member of the educational team across elementary and intermediate school settings
