Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Gridley, California

Step into a key role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter within a thriving educational environment. In this contract position, you’ll work onsite to empower hard of hearing and deaf students, helping them flourish academically and socially throughout the school day. The need is immediate and ongoing, spanning the entire 2026–2027 school year.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification from the National Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, or a minimum score of 4.0 on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment.
- Those holding an EIPA score under 4.0 will be considered and assigned as an ASL Para.
- Proven experience facilitating both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation in educational settings.
- Ability to support students in core academic subjects as well as vocational or life skills.
- Capacity to adapt to both elementary and intermediate school environments, with preference for caseload selection.
- Strong interpersonal skills, allowing positive collaboration with students, teachers, and school staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication between hard of hearing/deaf students and their peers, teachers, and staff.
- Support student learning in classrooms and assist with subjects such as reading, writing, and math.
- Supervise and encourage students during classroom activities, recess, and off-campus experiences.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive educational atmosphere.
