This onsite, Friday-only role allows you to play a crucial part in a student’s academic and social success, while working closely with dedicated educators in a vibrant school community near Houston, TX. What You Bring:
- Current, active license as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably in secondary schools
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and students to facilitate effective communication
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices and Cochlear Implants is a plus
- Professionalism, reliability, and strong interpersonal skills
In This Role, You Will:
- Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for a 9th-grade student during academic and extracurricular activities on Fridays (6.5 hours per week)
- Foster inclusive communication, ensuring the student has equitable access to classroom instruction, performances, and peer interactions
- Work closely with teachers utilizing assistive technology and adapt to classroom needs
- Support the student’s engagement in challenging subjects like Algebra I and celebrate achievements
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
