Qualifications

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within an educational setting
  • Ability to work effectively with students in behavioral or special education environments
  • Valid credential or licensure required for sign language interpretation in Texas
  • Comfortable supporting students with hearing devices (Cochlear Implants, hearing aids, ALD)
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable to a variety of classroom needs

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate as a part-time Language Facilitator, working on Fridays only (6.5 hours/week), and substitute as needed when the primary facilitator is unavailable
  • Provide interpretation for a 9th grade student during instructional times only (excluding lunch, arrival, and dismissal)
  • Support communication for a student making transitions after a residential program, ensuring access to curriculum and class activities
  • Engage with educational teams to foster a supportive learning environment
