Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting preferred
- Understanding of educational and behavioral classroom dynamics
- Familiarity with assistive listening devices (ALD), cochlear implants, and hearing aids is a plus
- Current licensure or certification as required by state guidelines
- Commitment to collaborating as part of a team and willingness to provide coverage as needed
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear communication for a 9th-grade student in a behavioral classroom
- Interpret during instructional times exclusively, excluding lunch and arrival/dismissal breaks
- Collaborate with another language facilitator for a seamless job share
- Adjust interpreting methods to accommodate the student’s unique communication needs
