Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Independence, Oregon

Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting between ASL and spoken English
- Experience providing interpreting services in educational or similar youth settings
- Minimum of two years of college coursework (72 academic credits), Associate’s Degree or higher, or successful completion of the Highly Qualified exam
- Understanding of middle school culture and student needs
- Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adaptability within a school community
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver interpretation services for students during classroom instruction, peer interactions, and school activities
- Facilitate equally accessible communication between students, educators, and support staff
- Support students’ understanding and participation in lesson materials, assignments, and discussions
- Collaborate with educators and special services teams to identify and address individual student needs
- Help foster an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates communication diversity
- Maintain accurate records and comply with applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements
