Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Katy, TX

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a bright and engaged 9th grade student as a Sign Language Interpreter. This onsite language facilitator position offers the chance to make a real impact in an inclusive educational environment, collaborating with a dedicated team. The assignment runs through May 27, 2027, with a consistent Friday schedule of 6.5 hours each week.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current, active license as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience working within school settings or with adolescent learners
- Strong skills in both American Sign Language and effective spoken language facilitation
- Ability to adapt and support students navigating academic and social environments
- Professionalism, punctuality, and clear communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear, real-time communication between student, peers, and educational staff
- Support the student’s participation in classroom activities, performances, and social interactions
- Encourage and assist with the student’s academic development, especially in subjects such as Algebra I
- Collaborate with teachers using assistive listening devices and technology
- Foster a supportive, inclusive environment, promoting the student’s confidence and independence
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by the school
- Engage with the student’s individual education plan (IEP) team as needed
